Shagreens earliest uses date back to 13th century Japan where skilled artisans found it to be a perfect material for samurai sword grips. During the Art Deco era shagreen wallpaper soared in popularity and was considered to be the pinnacle of luxury! Traditionally made from shark or ray skin, shagreen leather showcases a luxurious, granular surface.
